A Time Saving Tip to Lessen the Load

laundry-post-pic

Calling all laundry lovers!

Okay, you can all go ahead and put your hands down.

Actually, who are we kidding?! Let’s be honest…the words laundry and love do not belong in the same sentence.  Not sure I have ever met anyone who actually ENJOYS doing this household chore. I mean, if for some odd reason, you do, well….you’re an anomaly.

The process of washing, drying, folding, and putting clothes away is just fart too lengthy of a process.  Some days, I have to run the washing machine a 2nd or 3rd time, because something else grabbed my attention, allowing me to forgot about the wet clothes that sat way too long inside the drum.

ENTER GROSS MILDEW SMELL.

(PLEASE tell me I’m not the only one this happens to! )

Then, once out of the dryer, the clothes may sit in the basket for days, getting all wrinkled. The cycle is vicious, I tell ya. So, to ease the burden and help LESSEN YOUR LOAD, even by just a little, here is a helpful tip that my mother-in-law recently shared with me, which has cut my folding time in HALF!

This is a very simple suggestion…and even a bit of common sense.  Many of you may already do this, and perhaps I’ve just been hiding under a rock. (no shame here).  So, what’s this tip you ask?!

    DRUM ROLL PLEASE…

Just as you’re about to throw your clothing into the hamper (or maybe on the floor), be sure to turn the item right side out!  Yep, that’s it.  Seems simple, but not something that we are diligent in doing.  It can be a huge time saver, BUT it’s important that you make it a habit and that you do it each time you put your clothes in the hamper. If you have kids, try teaching them to do this as soon as they start learning how to undress.

*Disclaimer: When dealing with teenagers that need a lot of reminders
(or even husbands),this may seem impossible and not worth the battle...
so, perhaps bribery will work?!

If you wait until a massive laundry pile exists or once the clothes are finished drying to sit down and flip each item right side out,  you’ll want to pull your hair out knowing you STILL have to fold your clothes after, ultimately doubling your time!

As if you don’t have a million other things to do with a 30 minute block of time.

How many of you actually follow through CONSISTENTLY with this tip?! I know I sure don’t. But, if you take the few seconds to do this every time, you won’t have to flip every sock, shirt, or pair of pants right side out when pulling them from the dryer (especially dealing with baby/toddler clothing….so small and takes forever to do!).  This way, you’ll have time and energy to put the clothes away immediately, instead of letting the basket of freshly folded clothes sit there for a few days before finding their home again.

I’m not sure about you, but I’ll gladly take any suggestion offered to me if it helps cut back on the dreadful laundry process!  Even though I have to train myself to remember this every time, it’s super helpful in the end, and folding goes by so much faster.  Don’t wait any longer…go ahead and give it a try.  I bet it will help!

So, what is one time-saving tip you can share today to make life easier?

Would love to hear!
